Even though embarking on their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This occasion provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Shelbourne were hanging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
