The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

Whenever a major honors show approaches, one notices a demand for introducing fresh award types to acknowledge unsung work and fill the spirits of followers dedicated to specific genres.

A fellow writer has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is someone's personal cause. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front because like all dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification backing this proposal stands as crucial and significant. This is the request: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and typically spark debates resulting in unclear classifications. There’s a reason cinema institutions steer clear of genre categories. However, it represents a necessary evil in the world of video games, which are so diverse they barely qualify a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to be recognized, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

The major gaming awards offer these award types recognizing Action, Adventure-action titles, Role-Playing, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories effectively encompass a lot of ground, and you can find room for numerous titles.

Not so for logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Think about these outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: building puzzles from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. What category would fit them among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games released every year that have no home at major award shows, if they accidentally match classification types such as Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive independent game categories.

  • One classic puzzle game received no recognition in any category that year
  • A different innovative game was excluded during that ceremony
  • A beloved organization game received no acknowledgment recently
  • Limited numbers of brain-teasers scraped into independent or mobile categories

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often modest productions, but the art behind logic titles holds tremendous importance. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as the most-played games globally and have been for over a decade.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games claiming status as highest-selling title ever; it also contends for best game of all time. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

The Solution and Justification

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. One could readily select five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, given the need to exclude many worthy titles.

And to reiterate, these represent titles without proper classification in important events. Brain-teaser creators operate at the demanding boundary of video game design, producing among the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Just like cinema stunt performers, they merit acknowledgment. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
