It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.
